To forestall the inevitable questions about “where are you located?” and “where can we buy your beer?”, here’s the skinny on what is happening at Ghostfish as of this post.
Right now, we have an awesome business plan, lots of awesome beer recipes that are improving every week via our 3-gallon R&D homebrew batches, a steadily-growing team of passionate and talented individuals, and as of today we also have this website. We are officially an LLC in the state of Washington and the IRS is already on our case about paying taxes (even though we haven’t earned a dime yet).
What we do not have–YET–is a physical brewery or a license to produce and sell beer. We are about two-thirds of the way toward achieving our funding goals, and are about to embark on site selection for our brewery somewhere in the city of Seattle. Once we have our address, we can begin the “trial by paperwork” that all new breweries must pass through, wherein we must successfully navigate a dictionary-sized tome of forms and permit applications directed to no fewer than a dozen agencies on the city, state, and federal level. During that period we will also begin construction on our brewhouse and taproom.
In short, we are definitely on our way, and there is going to be a LOT of activity and excitement in the coming months. Even though we can’t legally sell you a beer yet, we’ll have plenty of updates to keep you on the edge of your seat, so keep a close watch on this blog!
