Ghostfish Has a Home!

Oh my goodness have I ever been waiting a long time to make this announcement: Ghostfish Brewing Company has signed the lease on the property that will house our brewery and taproom!  That’s right, Washington State’s first dedicated gluten-free brewery finally has an address!  2942 1st Ave. South, Seattle WA, nestled between S. Hanford street to the south, and S. Forest street to the north.  Right in the heart of Seattle’s SoDo district, just a few blocks from the West Seattle bridge, and conveniently accessible by two freeways (I-5 and WA-99) as well as Link Light Rail (the SoDo station is just a few blocks away) and a variety of bus lines.

And what a space it is!  The former home of Habana Sodo, a Cuban-themed night club, it was practically begging us to move in.  It already has a full bar and kitchen built out, with two bathrooms and plenty of space for a taproom in front, and the former dance floor has a cavernous ceiling height and enough space for a game of flag football even after we’ve installed our first phase of brewing equipment.  There’s also a mezzanine perfect for grain storage, an extra set of high-capacity bathrooms, and…well shucks, why not let the space speak for itself?

Yes, it needs some TLC, but it’s a KITCHEN!

Looking UP at the cavernous ceiling, which some day will be sheltering some towering fermentation tanks!

Soon to be serving delicious gluten-free beer…and a more tasteful color scheme 😉

Thanks to Amber Thiel for capturing the moment of truth: Igliashon turning the key for the first time!

As you can see, we still have quite a bit of work to do before this former nightclub can house Washington State’s first dedicated gluten-free brewery, but now that we have an address, the path is clear and the real work can begin.  Keep watch here for updates on our progress…they’re gonna be coming a lot faster now!
